Tuxedos and black tie
Black tie has rules, and most of what goes wrong with a rented dinner jacket is that it was built to fit nobody in particular. Cut properly, the difference shows in the shoulder and the lapel.
- Peak or shawl lapel, faced in grosgrain or satin

Wedding suits
A wedding suit is worn once for a very long day and then, if it is any good, for years afterwards. That argues for a cloth and a cut you will still want when the photographs are old.

Business suits
A working suit is judged on how it looks at the end of the day rather than the beginning. Weight, weave and the way the jacket is built decide that, which is why the cloth conversation matters more here than the colour one.

Fit
Fit is not tightness. A jacket fits when the collar stays against your neck as you move, the shoulder ends where your shoulder ends, and the chest holds its shape without pulling. Those are structural, decided by the pattern and the canvas rather than by taking something in.

Construction
A suit is mostly the parts you never see. This is what separates a bespoke jacket from one that costs less and hangs differently after a year — and it is the honest answer to the price questions this page cannot otherwise answer.
The chest of a jacket is shaped by a layer of canvas underneath the cloth. In a fully canvassed jacket that layer is stitched in and moves with you, and the chest keeps its shape for as long as the cloth lasts. In a fused jacket it is glued, which is faster and cheaper and which eventually shows as bubbling across the front.
The second photograph is a jacket at the basted stage — one sleeve on, the canvas still visible, the whole thing held together in white thread. No shop that promises a finished suit in forty-eight hours shows you this, because the basted fitting is the step that gets skipped to make that promise. It is also the only point at which the pattern itself can still be changed rather than the cloth taken in.
Which one you are being sold is the single most useful question to ask any tailor in this city, and it is the one most price comparisons never mention. The full argument is onfull canvas, half canvas and fused.
Cloth grade
Cloth is chosen for the climate you will wear it in, not the one the mill is in. A worsted that behaves beautifully in London is a punishment in April here; an open-weave tropical wool in the same colour is a different garment to live in.

Questions we are actually asked
- Is Bangkok good for tailored suits?
- It is, with a caveat worth stating plainly: the city holds both serious tailors and shops that will hand you a fused jacket cut in two days. What separates them is construction and the number of fittings, both of which you can ask about before you order.
- How long does a bespoke suit take?
- Longer than the two-day promise you will see advertised. A suit is cut, basted, tried on, corrected and only then finished. If you are in Bangkok for a short trip, tell us the date you fly and we will say honestly whether it fits.
- How many fittings will I need?
- More than one. The first fitting is on a basted shell — the suit half-made, held together in white thread — because that is the stage where the pattern can still be changed. Later fittings are refinements on top of that.
- Can you come to my hotel?
- That is the normal way we work. Cloth, tape and the bunch books come to you, and we return for each fitting rather than asking you to cross Bangkok twice in the heat.
- Can I order again after I go home?
- Yes. Your pattern and measurements stay on file after the first order, so a repeat order does not need another trip. Reviews on our Google profile describe doing exactly that.
